Privacy Policy.
TempoStep is designed to be simple and private. The short version: the app does not collect your data, does not require an account, and does not connect to the internet.

What we collect.
TempoStep is a self-contained iOS application. It does not have a server backend, does not create user accounts, and does not send any information off your device. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no advertising framework embedded in the app.
The mic stays on your device.
TempoStep uses the microphone to listen for silence between practice passes. This is the core feature of the app — it detects when you stop playing and uses that signal to advance the tempo automatically.
The microphone audio is processed entirely on-device in real time. No audio is recorded, saved to disk, or transmitted anywhere. The app listens only for the presence or absence of sound above a calibrated threshold; it does not capture, store, or analyse the content of what you play.
You can switch to Manual mode at any time to disable mic detection entirely. In Manual mode the microphone is not accessed.
iOS will ask for microphone permission the first time you tap Play in Auto mode. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
No accounts, no tracking, no ads.
- No account required. TempoStep does not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying information.
- No analytics. The app does not include any analytics or tracking library. Usage patterns, session lengths, and feature interactions are not measured or reported.
- No advertising. There are no ads in the app, and no advertising identifiers are accessed.
- No network requests. The app makes no outbound network connections during normal use. Your settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults) and never leave it.
- No crash reporting SDK. If the app crashes, nothing is sent to us automatically. If you experience a problem, we welcome a report by email.
The App Store handles payment.
TempoStep is a one-time purchase sold through the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information, credit card details, or purchase history. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
Safe for all ages.
TempoStep does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is appropriate for use by musicians of any age.
Changes to this policy.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at tempostepapp.com/privacy with a revised effective date. Because we do not collect email addresses through the app itself, we cannot notify you directly — check here if you want to stay current.
Given the nature of the app, we do not anticipate meaningful changes.
